1302 is, in the imagination of Flemish nationalists, the year in which the Flemish rose up for their emancipation. But how much does this struggle really have to do with the so-called Flemish nation? And how is this politically used (or rather abused)? In this training, especially on July 11, historian Jan Dumolyn puts an end to the nationalist myths. Using a class analysis, he explains the real events of that famous year.
