Capitalism doesn't care about care work. Women are burdened with caring responsibilities at home. In the healthcare sector, staff shortages are dire, working conditions are below par and the pace unsustainable. However, society cannot run if no one cares. So time for more respect for the healthcare industry. And time for equal classification where men contribute equally to healthcare.
Anaïs Fley is a French feminist activist and member of think tank transform! europe. She specializes in ecological planning, women's struggles and democracy.
Lise Vandecasteele is a Flemish MP for the PTB, where she defends the struggles of the healthcare sector. She is author of the book "Wassen, plassen, slapen, klaar (Wash, Pee, Sleep, Done)" (EPO, 2023).
