“System change, not climate change” has gone mainstream. However, interpretations of this slogan vary widely. Real system change means changing the system itself: capitalism and its market, driven by the pursuit of profit. But is changing that market through mechanisms enough, or is it time for something new?

Yann Le Lann is a French sociologist and Lecturer at the University Charles de Gaulle - Lille 3. He specialises is labour and wage issues. He is President of Espaces Marx - France, and Vice President of transform! europe.

Mathieu Strale is a researcher at the Institute for Environmental Management and Land-Use Planning at the ULB. His research focuses on urban mobility in Brussels and in Europe more broadly.

Nadia Cornejo is political advisor and French-speaking spokesperson at Greenpeace Belgium.
