The State in Capitalism: Marx and the Eighteenth Brumaire (FR)

Wednesday 9th of July 2 - 4pm

Anton Jäger - Belgium

Language: French

Marx's work “The Eighteenth Brumaire of Louis Bonaparte" is not his best known. Yet it offers deep insight into his views on the class character of the state. This session dives into the classic — sometimes called the first work of social history.

Anton Jäger is a publicist, philosopher and lecturer at the University of Oxford. He published Hyperpolitiek (EPO) in 2024 and, together with Daniel Zamora, Welfare Markets: A Global History of Basic Income (University of Chicago Press).
