AI is no longer just ChatGPT; autonomous AI networks are now independently writing code and mapping systemic data. Fast integration in robotic systems might change the workplace profoundly. Such progress is a tremendous leap forward for humanity. But as long as tech bosses like Peter Thiel, Sam Altman or Elon Musk are the ones making the decisions, the technology is in the wrong hands. What stance should the Left take towards artificial intelligence, and how can we use it to serve humanity rather than profit? And how can we use the technology itself to reach that goal?

Hugo Pompougnac is a computer scientist, specialising in programme compilation and optimisation. Currently, since 2023, he has been serving as the editor of the political magazine Nos révolutions.

Ben Van Duppen is the director of the study department of the PTB. He specializes in economics and artificial intelligence and also served as an alderman in Borgerhout.
