The Tricontinental: Institute for Social Research presents an exclusive workshop for the Marxist Summer School!

We hear the term "Global South" everywhere, but we rarely stop to think about what it actually means. This workshop aims to help participants understand what the Global South is and to question our own conceptions about it. It also addresses the role of China in the development of the South. Through an interactive session throughout the day, we bring participants to understand what this really means from a Marxist perspective.

Tings Chak is a Chinese activist, writer, and artist. She is co-coordinator for the Asia region of the Tricontinental Institute for Social Research. She is also an editor at Wenhua Zongheng, a leading journal on contemporary Chinese political and cultural issues.

Maisa Bascuas is a feminist activist from Argentina. A graduate in political science, she currently coordinates the "Popular Latin American Feminisms" section for Tricontinental: Institute for Social Research.

Franziska Kleiner is a co-founder of the Internationale Forschungsstelle DDR (IF DDR) and coordinates the Zetkin Forum as well as the Europe desk of the Tricontinental: Institute for Social Research.
